Stampeders’ drop 5th straight after home ice defeat to The Blizzard

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their 5th straight on Wednesday night, falling 4-3 to The Blizzard in the 2nd annual Stamps’ “Hockey is Everyone” game.

Jakob Jones got the Stamps in front just 14 seconds into the opening period tucking home his 8th of the season to make it 1-0.

The Blizzard replied though just over three minutes later as Matthew Langdon snuck one through post & left arm of Swan netminder Gage Stewart to tie things up.

But the Stampeders came back with back to back goals just 1:28 apart late in the first by Riley Fequet & Griffin Ayotte to give the home team a two goal lead through 20 minutes.

Shots 18-8 Blizzard through 1 period.

In the 2nd just 4:50 in, Eric Mork cut the Blizzard deficit to within one as pounced on a loose puck and beat Stewart on the powerplay to make it 3-2.

Brett Ward tied things up just over half-way through the middle frame as his big slapshot went post and in by Stewart for his 4th before Mork added his second powerplay of the period which would stand up to be the game winner.

Loic Morin turned aside 20 of 23 Stampeder shots in the win, while Stamps’ G Gage Stewart made 37 stops in the loss.
