Eddie’s Recap of the Celebrate Success Business Awards!

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce held their annual Celebrate Success Business Awards last night, and what a night it was! This is an awards dinner that happens every two years, which highlights local businesses within the city who go above and beyond in the community. Businesses enter for different award categories weeks prior, which an independent judging panel narrows nominees down to a select few finalists, before announcing the winner during the awards banquet.

The whole event kicked off with cocktails at 5pm. This was about an hour an a half for people to grabs some drinks, get situated with their tables, chat, and network with others. 6:30pm is when the program begins, starting with O Canada from a very talented 12th grade student. Then speeches from different organizations, as well as provincial & municipal bodies. Once that was over, the classic St. Mary’s feast begins!

After dinner – about 8pm, the awards begin. Sponsors for each award would come up to the stage and describe what the award was about, followed by a short video of each of the finalists, and then the sponsor would announce who the winner is. The winners come up to the stage, give a speech, and then moving onto the next award. It was straight out of an Oscars show! There would even be music playing when the winner would walk on to the stage, and walk off after their speech. Very creative.

After all awards were handed out, the night was done at about 10pm.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I was also an emcee for the night! I was co-emceeing with Tonya Cherry from our sister station, GX94. I would like to say it went smoothly! At least no one complained. If you missed it, the event will be televised on Channels 7 & 507 3:00 PM April 29 and 7:00 PM April 30. It’s also available on the AccessNow App.

I want to congratulate all the nominees and the winners as well; these businesses and the owners deserved them. I also want to thank the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce for putting together this entire evening, and I want to specifically thank Juanita Polegi for making sure emceeing the night was smooth. I look forward to the 2026 awards!
