Yorkton City Council Highlights – June 17th

The 2023 year-end report was released at last night’s Yorkton City Council meeting.

Director of Finance Ashley Stradeski says the City ended 2023 with a 1.9 million dollar surplus, which he says gives the city some flexibility regarding projects it can take on throughout the year.

City council also passed a bylawfor the Brick Flour Mill project.

A 240-thousand dollar loan was initially approved in November 2022, and is expected to be paid back to the city in equal installments within the next four years, interest-free.

The Parkland Regional Library Board proposed to Yorkton City Council last night, that they be exempt from taxes in their newly purchased building on Sixth Avenue.

Mayor Mitch Hippsley spoke about the process says the library has never had to pay taxes in the R.M., and they asked the City for the same

The motion was filed and will be revisited at a later council meeting.
