Hovind to be Sask. NDP Candidate in Melville-Saltcoats for Next Provincial Election

The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party has officially nominated Karen Hovind as their candidate for Melville-Saltcoats in the upcoming provincial election.

Hovind was selected on Tuesday by local Saskatchewan New Democrat members through a contested nomination.

“I am honored to have been chosen by the members of Melville-Saltcoats,” Hovind shared. “After 17 years, this Sask Party government has grown tired and out of touch. It’s time for change.”

Hovind (pictured below) is a dedicated teacher and was formerly a town councillor in Saltcoats. She currently works at Melville Comprehensive School and earned her Master of Education degree in 2021, focusing on social and structural issues affecting education.

“I am excited to have Karen joining our team,” stated Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck. “With her hard work and dedication, I know Karen will be an excellent MLA for the people of Melville-Saltcoats.”

Hovind is the 48th candidate nominated by the Saskatchewan NDP.
