Creig earns 50 save shutout to lead Yorkton Terriers to road victory at Whitney Forum

The Yorkton Terriers, for the second time this season, were victorious over the Flin Flon Bombers, this time with a 3-0 decision at the Whitney Forum.

The Terriers got off to a quick start as, after a scramble off a face-off win by Keenan Ingram, the puck came back to Riley Cormier, and he beat Bombers netminder Kenneth Marquart short-side for his third goal of the season, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Tyler Palin added to the Terriers’ lead with 1:26 left in the second period as he jumped up, capitalized on a rebound, and sniped home his fourth goal of the campaign to push their lead to 2-0 through 2 periods.

The Bombers came out strong in the third period and went on to outshoot the Terriers 22-3, but it was the Terriers’ Vinay Junek getting the lone marker as Dustin Renas’ cross-ice pass redirected off the Yorkton product’s skate for his third goal, wrapping up the scoring.

Callum Creig was once again terrific in the Terriers’ net, making 50 stops for his second shutout of the season, while Kenneth Marquart made 16 saves on 19 shots.

The Terriers continue their road trip on Wednesday night, visiting the La Ronge Ice Wolves at the Mel Hegland Uniplex starting at 7:30 PM, and you can hear the game on GX94 radio starting with the pregame show at 7:20 PM.
