Millionaires’ fall; Terriers win on Friday Night SJHL Recap

MILLIONAIRES 0, MUSTANGS 7

The Melfort Mustangs won their 3rd straight on Friday night after a commanding 7-0 victory over the Melville Millionaires at the Northern Lights Palace, to split the season series at 2-2. 

Aidyn Hutchinson opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the 2nd and ended the night with a 3 point night (2G 1A). 

Chase Friedt-Mohr also chipped in with 1G 2A while Kaleb Binner, Rhett Hamilton, snd Tye Evans chipped in with singles. 

Mustangs netminder James Venne turned aside all 22 shots he face for his 4th shutout of the season, while Ethan Rau started for Melville & made 14 saves on 19 shots before being relieved for William Dyke (11 saves on 13 shots).

The Moneymen look to rebound on Saturday night hosting the Battlefords North Stars. 

Elsewhere, 

NORTH STARS 3, TERRIERS 8 

The Yorkton Terriers got back in the win column in a big way on Friday by defeating the visiting Battlefords North Stars, 8-3. 

Brett Butz and Jye Zawatsky each scored twice for the Terriers who got singles from David Coyle, Jaron Desnoyers, Cooper Algajer & Dustin Renas. 

Alex Izyk scored 2 goals for the North Stars while Evan Waldie had the other. 

Ethan Farrow made 31 saves for the Terriers in the win. 

Yorkton will look to make it two straight entertaining the Estevan Bruins on Saturday night.
